A distressing state of disrepair has beset a Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School at Pagada, in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, which caters to 213 pupils.
The school’s deplorable condition, recently exposed by Monitng, a civic technology platform dedicated to enhancing transparency and accountability in public projects, reveals a stark reality.
The school’s roofs have been blown off, rendering the facility unsuitable for learning.
Monitng which made the revelation on its X account on Thursday wrote, “This is LEA Pry Sch Pagada 2 Dobi Ward Gwagwalada Area Council FCT Abuja, which is worn with the roof blown off.
“Where 213 Pupils will resume next week in these terrible conditions. This school was renovated in 2019 by the community.”
Tagging the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike and the FCT Senator, Senator Ireti Kingibe, Monitng said, “Please direct the relevant authorities to renovate and provide a conducive learning environment for the kids.”
Meanwhile, the FCT ministry in its N1.28 Trillion budget for 2024, allocated N2,522,054,733 to the FCT Agency for Mass Education and N24,898,959,787 to FCT Universal Basic Education.
In June 2024, the House of Representatives passed the 2024 supplementary bill of N98.5 billion for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
