Nollywood actresses Kate Henshaw and Etinosa Idemudia have reacted to the viral video of a Catholic Priest knocking altar boy.
A day back, a video had threaded online that captured the moment a priest gave an altar boy a heavy knock on the head for failing to keep the microphone steady while a couple exchanged marital vows.
The video elicited outrage from Nigerians, and the priest had tendered an apology for his actions, surprisingly, the boy’s family took the priest’s side, assuring him that there was nothing wrong with him hitting their son.
This didn’t sit well with comedian Bovi, who via his Instagram page, expressed how lived and miffed he was at the rate at which most forms of abuse go unchecked in Nigeria. He noted how the Priest described his actions as “normal correction” and “minor correction”, and the boy’s father said he would have blamed the priest if he didn’t knock him. The comedian avowed that knocking a child in the head unprovoked is a violent and criminal act as he questioned why the police hadn’t invited the man.
Taking to his comment section, Kate Henshaw and Etinosa Idemudia concurred with him.
Henshaw called the Catholic Priest an abuser. She commented, “This is just not a priest, this one na abuser!! Simple”.
Etinosa Idemudia blamed it on the fact that Nigerians have normalized abuse. She noted how a lot of bruised adults today with anger issues and all sorts of psychological issues come to marry their sons and daughters and continue the same sick cycle.
“The thing is that we have been so used to abuse we see it as “normal.” A lot of bruised adults today with anger issues and all sorts of psychological issues are coming to marry our sons and daughters and continuing the same sick cycle. It is well for Africa”.
In April, in the wake of the viral Lead British school bullying video, Bovi expressed joy that we still have well-raised children in Nigeria as he expressed his admiration for the victim. Addressing the video of her relative slapping her bully, he expressed displeasure at their behavior but noted that her guardian did it out of fury.
