The Chief Registrar of Imo State High Court, N.J. Achunulo, has refuted the claim that a Magistrate Court sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital, has disqualified the 27 Chairmanship and 305 Councillorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for today’s (September 21, 2024) Imo State Local Government Elections, over the party’s failure to comply with the Guidelines of the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) in the conduct of its primary election.
This is contained in a release signed the the CR which was made available to Bib&Collar this morning.
Refuting the claim, the CR states: “Our attention has been drawn to a social media report about a purported Magistrate Court order disqualifying 27 APC Chairmanship and 305 Councilorship Candidates of the APC over the conduct of the Primary Election of the party.
“This is a fake and fabricated news; there is no Magistrate in the nominal roll of the lmo State Judiciary called Ifunanya Ekwerike and there is no case in any Magistrate Court in the State with a Suit No CR/OMC/635/2024.
“Please disregard such report as the case did not emanate from the Magistrate Court of lmo State.” The statement concludes.
