The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has petitioned Honourable Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton, Canada, regarding a concerning matter involving Amaka Patience Sunnberger, a Nigerian national residing in Canada.
According to the petition, Sunnberger has issued threats to poison and kill members of the Yoruba and Edo ethnic communities. In the letter dated August 28, 2024 addressed to the mayor, the Chairman of NiDCOM, Dr Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed that Mrs Amaka Patience Sonnberger, is a disability support worker in Brampton.
The letter reads, “We wish to inform your esteemed office that NiDCOM is in receipt of a video circulating online of a Nigerian woman resident in Canada who had been inciting violence and calling for the killings of persons belonging to a certain tribe in Nigeria.
“The said woman known as Mrs. Amaka Patience Sonnberger, who apparently lives in Brampton Canada is a disability support worker in Brampton.”
Erewa stated that it is worrisome that someone who works with one of the most vulnerable demographics in society made such a comment, adding that she may pose a danger to the vulnerable people she works with and needs to be investigated, checked, and stopped for the good of society.
It reads, “Furthermore, while we have been informed that this matter has been brought to the attention of the Canadian authorities by Nigerians living in Canada, we also want to lend our voice to the effort of ending such issues at its roots.”
“In view of the above, we ask that this issue be properly investigated not just because of her threat of poisoning persons from a particular tribe in Nigeria, but to determine her attitude at her job with the vulnerable,” the letter adds.
Newsmen had earlier reported that Amaka confidently declared that nothing would happen to her because she is a Canadian citizen.
In a recent viral audio clip, Amaka boasted about her immunity from any repercussions, dismissing rumours of her arrest and potential deportation.
Speaking during a TikTok live session, she said, “Somebody just sent me a message saying they have arrested me and are about to deport me. With my passport? I am a Canadian. Mad people!”
She laughed off the suggestion that she could face deportation, questioning how she could be sent away when she holds a Canadian passport.
The letter also contains the transcription of the audio in which Amaka called on Igbo people to poison Yoruba and Edo people.
It reads as follows:
