The National Youth Service Corps has fixed Wednesday, January 21, 2026, as the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course across all 37 NYSC orientation camps nationwide.
The announcement was made in a statement shared on the Scheme’s official X account on Tuesday.
According to the statement, registration at the camps will begin on Wednesday, January 21, and run until midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.
The swearing-in ceremony for corps members is scheduled for Friday, January 23, while the closing ceremony will hold on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wished prospective corps members a safe journey to their states of deployment and strongly advised them to avoid travelling at night.
NYSC management also urged all corps members to strictly comply with the orientation timetable to ensure a smooth and successful programme.
Established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, the NYSC orientation course serves as the foundational phase of the one-year service scheme.
During the three-week camp, corps members participate in paramilitary drills, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training, lectures on national development, and cultural activities aimed at fostering unity across ethnic and religious divides.
