The Independent National Electoral Commission has resumed the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise with the commencement of its second phase.
The registration process restarted on Monday following the conclusion of the first phase, which officially ended on December 10, 2025. The Commission said the break between both phases was used to carry out statutory activities required under the law.
INEC had earlier opened online pre registration for the exercise on August 18, 2025 before rolling out physical registration at designated centres across the country on August 25, 2025.
According to the Commission, nearly 10million Nigerians initiated the online pre registration process during the first phase of the exercise. As of November 28, 2025, over 2.5million registrations had been fully completed nationwide.
INEC explained that the completed registrations included more than 1.5million online submissions and over 1million physical registrations carried out at registration centres.
The Commission noted that the interval between the two phases was used to display the register of voters for public scrutiny in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022. The display exercise for claims and objections was conducted between December 15 and December 21, 2025 at local government offices where registration had taken place.
However, INEC disclosed that voter registration activities remain suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing electoral processes in both locations. The commission said new dates for the resumption of registration in the affected areas would be announced later.
