Security operatives in Katsina State have rescued five abducted individuals following a violent confrontation with suspected bandits in Sabon Garin Safana, Dutsinma Local Government Area.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the operation was launched in response to an early morning raid on Sunday, during which seven residents—including two children—were kidnapped.
“At about 2:15 AM, the gunmen invaded the community while residents were asleep and abducted the victims,” Makama stated in a post shared on Monday.
Acting swiftly on a distress call, security personnel engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle, successfully rescuing five of the kidnapped victims. Those rescued include Abdullahi Usman (40), Asma’u Abdullahi (20), Safiya Abdullahi (1), Sumayya Yahuza (20), and Fatima Yahuza (1). All were reported unharmed and have been reunited with their families.
Sadly, one of the victims, identified as 30-year-old Ibrahim Sale, was fatally shot by the bandits during the crossfire.
Efforts are currently underway to locate and rescue the remaining two victims who are still believed to be in captivity.
