President Bola Tinubu has directed the military to eradicate banditry and other security threats across Nigeria by the end of 2025.
The Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, disclosed this in a viral video, emphasizing that security forces will intensify their offensive against bandits and other criminal elements.
Badaru stated that bandits are currently on the run, but the military will not relent until they are completely eliminated.
“The bandits are now on the run, but the military will not rest until we end this. The president has given us marching orders to end insecurity in every part of our country by the end of this year,” Badaru said.
He added that the Chief of Defence Staff and the National Security Adviser (NSA) are working around the clock to achieve this objective, applying pressure on all active military operations.
Badaru also revealed that mining activities have resumed in Zamfara State following security improvements, noting that the government is reviewing security strategies for other high-risk areas.
