President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning to state governments, stating that all land approvals granted on federal road setbacks will be revoked.
The President made this declaration on Thursday during the flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the Deep Sea Port Access Road along the Epe-Ijebu Ode corridor.
He emphasized the importance of intergovernmental collaboration on infrastructure projects and urged state governors to align with federal agencies before granting planning permissions.
“Dear governors, let us work together. Do not issue planning approvals without consulting the Surveyor General of the Federation and the Federal Ministry of Works,” Tinubu stated.
Addressing the presence of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, he added, “Take this as a serious warning — all approvals given on road setbacks will be revoked. We are not going to tolerate unapproved settlements or islands springing up illegally.”
The President’s remarks were captured in a video shared by TVC News.
