Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday attended a political rally in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State alongside top leaders of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
Wike appeared at the event flanked by Tony Okocha, chairman of the APC in Rivers, and Chukwuemeka Aaron, chairman of the PDP in the state. During the rally, the minister issued a stern warning to individuals he described as outsiders attempting to interfere in Rivers politics.
Pointing at the two party chairmen, Wike said Rivers remains united across party lines and challenged anyone who doubts the state’s political cohesion to prove otherwise.
Earlier at the event, Rejoice Otobo, chairman of the APC in Ahoada West Local Government Area, declared that the party in the area would follow Wike’s political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Similarly, Ikechukwu Obuzor, the PDP chairman in the same local government, pledged total loyalty to the former Rivers governor, assuring him of electoral support in future contests.
Addressing supporters in Oyigbo, Wike reaffirmed that Rivers State stands firmly behind President Bola Tinubu in the buildup to the 2027 elections.
He also cautioned Ajibola Basiru, national secretary of the APC, to refrain from making statements concerning Rivers politics. According to Wike, any attempt to undermine the state’s political structure would be strongly resisted.
Wike warned that Rivers support for the president should not be taken lightly and said anyone who interferes in the state’s political affairs would face consequences.
