The Nigeria Football Federation has constituted a fact-finding committee to examine the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The decision follows Nigeria’s early exit from the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The Super Falcons were eliminated in the quarter-finals and later lost 2-1 to South Africa in a playoff that would have secured a place in the inter-confederation playoffs.
The result ends Nigeria’s unbroken record of appearing at every Women’s World Cup since the tournament began in 1991.
Ambassador Fanny Amun, MON, will chair the committee. Other members are former Nigeria internationals Ladan Bosso, Desire Oparanozie and Mutiu Adepoju, together with Dr Alex Mana. Nasiru Jibril has been appointed secretary.
The NFF said the panel will review the setbacks suffered by the national teams and submit recommendations aimed at preventing a repeat of the failure.
