The Nigeria Data Protection Commission has inaugurated and inducted members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit at its headquarters in Abuja, with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission offering support for the new body.
National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Dr Vincent Olatunji said public service is a position of trust that requires honesty, accountability and transparency. He noted that the commission already has measures in place to prevent corrupt practices and expressed readiness to work with the ICPC to discourage such conduct.
ICPC Chairman Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, represented by the Director of Systems Study and Review, Mr Olusegun Adigun, commended the NDPC management for its commitment to accountability while carrying out its regulatory duties. He described the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit as a complementary structure for preventing corruption in government offices and called on NDPC leadership to back the newly inducted members.
Dr Olatunji pledged the commission’s full support for the unit and stressed the importance of accountability in public duties. Both organisations agreed to collaborate in fulfilling their respective mandates.
