The Federal Government has dispatched a dedicated Passport Intervention Team from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters to the United Kingdom to clear pending applications and ease processing for Nigerians in the diaspora.
The move follows a directive by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap. The team is scheduled to arrive in the UK on 10 August 2026 and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to handle pending, new and renewal passport applications.
During the exercise, the intervention team will visit designated cities across the United Kingdom to conduct enrolment and processing, giving eligible applicants in different parts of the country access to the service.
The intervention is open to three categories of applicants: those with pending applications, new applicants, and holders of passports with less than one year to expiry who wish to renew. Applicants must present completed application forms and proof of payment at enrolment.
A detailed schedule listing cities, dates, venues and times will be released separately. The NIS has advised applicants not to turn up at any location until the official timetable is published and to monitor communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK for updates.

The Service emphasised that its regular digital channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, and the home delivery service will continue to operate normally throughout the intervention.
