The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman as Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League, effective immediately.
The appointment was announced on Friday as the 2026/27 NPFL season began with the opening match between Shooting Stars, Nigeria’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives, and newly promoted Inter Lagos FC at Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan.
Abdulrahaman holds a doctorate in sports administration and has extensive experience in football organisation and league administration.
NFF Interim General Secretary Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, MON, said the move followed a directive issued on Thursday requiring all league board members, chief executive officers and non-NFF staff chief operating officers to vacate their positions.
