The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has declared that notorious bandit leader Bello Turji will soon be eliminated as the military escalates operations in Zamfara State.
Speaking on Thursday at the Headquarters of Operation Hadarin Daji in Gusau, Oluyede assured that Turji is on the run and will soon be neutralized.
“Bello Turji is on the run as we speak, and wherever he goes, we follow him. Let him keep running — it is just a matter of time before he is removed from the space,” Oluyede said.
The Army Chief highlighted recent victories against bandit groups, revealing that troops had successfully eliminated several key bandit leaders, including Samaila, Boga, and Boderi.
Reaffirming the military’s commitment to restoring peace in Zamfara and the North-West, Oluyede urged Nigerians to provide timely intelligence to security forces to aid their operations.
“We will keep pursuing them to ensure the entire North-West is safe,” he added.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by troops, he expressed confidence in their ability to overcome the threats posed by bandits.
His visit to Zamfara marks his first tour of the region since his appointment on October 30, 2024, as the army intensifies efforts to combat banditry and insecurity.
