The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has explained why security agencies have not been able to arrest the embattled past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello. Onanuga, while giving the explanation on the Sunday edition of Inside Sources with Laolu Akande, a socio-economic programme aired on Channels Television, attributed the inability of security agencies to arrest the former governor to the “complicated” nature of the case. It can be recalled that in April, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, declared Bello, wanted for alleged financial crime to the tune of N80.2 billion.…
In Nigeria, many in public office do not reckon that while leadership is a thankless job, it is also an opportunity to generate social capital. Leadership is about making sacrifices and taking tough decisions with compassion. It is an altruistic or selfless vocation. Leadership is not easy. A leader is taken to have magic wand and a problem solver. A leader must perspire to inspire. As a leader, you will be pummeled, insulted, harassed and misunderstood. If you do not go through all these, check well to see that you are not leading. Pray! Many who are in leadership positions…

“A Judge shall avoid developing excessively close relationship with frequent litigants – such as government ministers or their officials, municipal officials, police prosecutors in any Court where the Judge often sits, if such relationship could reasonably create an appearance of partiality.” Rule 2.8, Revised Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers in Nigeria (2016) Sylvanus Nsofor was a little known Justice of the Court of Appeal when he breathed oxygen into Muhammadu Buhari’s political aspirations with his dissent in the presidential election petition in 2007. She wakes in the dark, the ordeals of past years torments her night.. With chattering teeth, she trembles as her fears turn an acrid pill to swallow.. Thoughts of facing her misery at dawn, thrusts her deeper into her fright.. At night, she w’d stare owl-eyed at her silhouette now bruised into a pitiable shadow.. At dawn, tiny light rays lightens her stoicism to boundless height.. As she picks up her tired bones, rouguely infused with pale marrow… The scourge of an abused woman is an umbra on morality’s light.. An arrow to her dignity, a crude harbinger of…

Shackled by lingering memories, Held by yesterday’s worries, Emotions, drama and trauma, So scared of pending karma, Permanently bound with chains, Gradually getting drowned. Sins of my youth burn, Hunting me badly at every turn, Dreams of tomorrow in captivity, Yet slaving in the field of Negativity. Shadows lurking with mistakes, Failures, regrets and aches. Struggling to pull away quickly, Freedom calls urgently Will I continue stalling? Tomorrow’s cry for liberty knocking, Empowers me with audacity to break, The fetters of despair, bleak. Ululations I hear. As I walk free from yesterday’s jeer. Stepping into awesome liberty, Of a new…
