The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from the reported commissioning of a new party secretariat in Lessel, Ushongo Local Government Area.
In a statement signed by Hon. Abraham Waroh, the Zonal Chairman of Zone “A”, the party described the event as illegal, insisting that Mr. Dan Boor, who claimed to be the PDP Chairman in Ushongo, is not recognized by the party.
“The official Chairman of the PDP in Ushongo Local Government is Hon. Gaav Tsua, as recognized by the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and all relevant security agencies,” the statement clarified.
The party emphasized that it did not commission any new secretariat in Lessel on the said date. Instead, the only official event was the inauguration of ward executives from eleven council wards, elected during the party’s ward congresses on July 27, 2024.
It further explained that the local government executives, elected during congresses on September 21, 2024, were supposed to be inaugurated alongside local government party chairmen at the State Congress on October 3, 2024, in Makurdi but were not.
“This inauguration was conducted under the supervision of INEC and security agencies.”
The PDP warned that Mr. Boor’s actions amount to impersonation, adding that legal representatives have been instructed to report the matter to security agencies.
“He has been engaging in deceptive practices, misleading the public by falsely claiming to be the Ushongo PDP Chairman.”
The party also noted that during the alleged commissioning in Lessel, former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, was represented by Hon. Alfred Orya Atera.
The PDP urged Senator Suswam, as a senior party figure, to refrain from endorsing any activities that could undermine the party’s unity and integrity.
It concluded by calling on the public to disregard any reports of a new PDP office in Lessel, warning that anyone dealing with Mr. Dan Boor does so at their own risk.
