A car belonging to a lawyer, Kingsley Ozioma Elegalam, Esq. has been stolen this afternoon, Wednesday the 27th day of November 2024, inside the Owerri High Court premises.
The lawyer confirmed this from his post in lawyers’ platform this afternoon, “I went to the high court today precisely before Hon, Justice Nnodim for a matter. After the matter, I came out to the place I parked my car and behold the car was no longer there. I thought it was a joke and it appeared real to me that the car was stolen inside the court primeses. The car number is AG 674 NKR Camry (custom). I have already reported this incident to the police and the police control room is doing their best for now. If you have any information in respect to this subject matter please contact me on 08033769698.”
Speaking to Bibncollar this evening, Mr. Elegalam confirmed that the sad incident took place in the afternoon. According to him, he had just resprayed the car with auto-base metallic gold paint, replaced the headlight and rear light, and completely refurbished the car in preparation for Christmas season.
In a very sombre tone, he recounted his ordeal, rueing his financial loss, especially having spent so much in the refurbishment of the car.
This ugly incident highlights the worrying porousnes of the security of the High Court Owerri premises, and the risk this poses to judges, lawyers, judiciary staff members, litigants and visitors in that premises.
