Lagos — Dangote Industries Limited has escalated its fight against the illegal use of its branded trucks by rolling out a public whistleblowing programme that offers a cash reward of N500,000 for credible information leading to the arrest of offenders or the interception of unauthorised cargo.
The initiative, announced in a statement on Monday, forms part of the conglomerate’s broader strategy to protect the integrity of its nationwide logistics network and clamp down on individuals misusing Dangote vehicles for unauthorised commercial activities, including the illegal transportation of goods and persons.
According to the company, only specifically approved products may be carried by its subsidiary trucks. Dangote Cement trucks are authorised solely for cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal, and clinker.
Dangote Sugar Refinery vehicles are restricted to sugar products, while NASCON Allied Industries trucks are designated for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning. Dangote Packaging trucks may only carry bags and packaging materials.
Trucks from Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are permitted to transport polypropylene products, and Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are approved exclusively for urea fertiliser.
The company warned that any Dangote-branded truck found conveying unauthorised goods would be deemed engaged in illegal haulage. Both drivers and owners of such cargo face arrest, confiscation of goods, and prosecution under relevant laws.
“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorised goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the statement said.
To aid investigations, whistleblowers are encouraged to provide detailed information including truck type, registration plate number, cab number, vehicle location, description of goods, truck colour, and photographs where possible.
Dangote has established dedicated hotlines for reports involving trucks operating from its Obajana, Okpella, and Gboko plants. The company said law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have been empowered to arrest drivers found using company trucks for unauthorised purposes.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on logistics-related fraud, Dangote urged Nigerians to support the campaign.
“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities,” the statement added. “We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system.”
The whistleblowing programme is designed not only to safeguard the company’s assets but also to promote transparency, accountability, and compliance across its logistics operations while protecting the Dangote brand.
