Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticized the Canadian embassy in Nigeria following its refusal to grant visas to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, and other senior military officials.
The officers were scheduled to participate in a veterans’ event in Canada but were denied entry visas, a decision that drew strong reactions from Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.
Reacting to the situation, Ribadu condemned the embassy’s actions, stating that they were “disrespectful” and adding that ”they can go to hell”.
Fani-Kayode took to social media to support Ribadu’s stance, praising him for his firm response.
“At last, we now have an NSA with the courage to stand up to foreigners who treat our people with contempt,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The former minister further criticized Canada, suggesting that the country’s sovereignty could be at risk if former U.S. President Donald Trump were to return to power.
“They should not only go to hell but also go and jump in the lagoon. Nigeria has paid her dues and MUST be treated with respect,” he added.
The visa denial has sparked diplomatic discussions, with Nigerian officials calling for greater respect and fair treatment of its representatives on the global stage.
