Former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), has described President Bola Tinubu as the Asiwaju of the Universe the Jagaban of the entire Niger State,” not just Borgu.
IBB made the remark on Thursday during the official launch of his memoir, “A Journey in Service,” in Abuja.
“President Tinubu is Asiwaju of the universe and not just the Jagaban of Borgu but of the entire Niger State,” Babangida declared.
Meanwhile, IBB expressed regret over the annulment of the 1993 presidential election, which he described as free, fair, and credible.
“That accident of history is most regrettable. The nation is entitled to expect my expression of regret,” he stated.
Taking full responsibility for the decision, Babangida explained that the military administration acted in what it believed was the national interest at the time.
“June 12 happened under my watch. Mistakes, oversights, and missteps occurred in quick succession. But as I explain in my book, in all matters, we acted in the supreme national interest so that Nigeria could survive.”
