Lawyers representing Nigerian musician Tochukwu Gubemi Ojogwu, known as OdumoduBlvck, have formally petitioned the Lagos State Police Command over what they describe as an attempted arrest of their client in the early hours of 29 August 2026.
In a petition dated 31 August 2026, the firm Marshal Attorneys wrote to the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department. They stated that officers of the Nigeria Police Force arrived at the musician’s location at about 3:00am carrying an invitation letter said to have been issued by the Lagos State Police Command.
The legal team said the officers acted despite an earlier response to a previous police invitation and while the Inspector General of Police’s Monitoring Unit was already dealing with the matter. They also pointed out that a related case is pending before a magistrate’s court in Abuja and argued that this should influence any decision to pursue a separate investigation into the same issues.
In the petition the lawyers wrote: “On the 29th of August, 2026 at about 3:00am, officers of the Nigerian Police Force purportedly acting on your Command swooped on our Client with an invitation letter purportedly issued by your good self.”
They further noted that one of their lawyers had earlier denied that the invitation letter was issued by the person named on it. The firm has asked the Assistant Commissioner to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported early-morning visit and to allow the Inspector General’s office to continue handling the matter through its Monitoring Unit.
The petition seeks clarification of the events and insists that the appropriate authorities should take the lead.
