President Bola Tinubu on Saturday listed economic recovery, education, healthcare and citizens’ welfare as his top priorities if granted a second term in 2027.
He made the commitment at an All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, co-organised by the Rainbow Coalition led by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Tinubu also said youth development would receive attention and restated his administration’s resolve to improve the welfare of retirees through prompt payment of pensions and gratuities. He urged Rivers voters to use their permanent voter cards wisely in pursuit of a better Nigeria.
The president praised Wike and the people of Rivers State for their strong show of support for his re-election bid. He specifically thanked Wike for his role in reconciliation and peace-building during the state’s recent political crisis.
Tinubu described Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a peaceful leader and lover of his state, adding that the governor “will never regret his commitment to restoring peace in the state.”
“I sincerely appreciate Wike, Fubara, APC members and the Rainbow Coalition Campaign Council for their support,” the president said.
Wike earlier assured Tinubu of massive support from Rivers residents. He noted that the president had appointed no fewer than 47 indigenes of the state to strategic national positions.
“We cannot take the president’s support for granted. Rivers people will vote massively for the president in the 2027 presidential election,” Wike said.
Fubara pledged that Rivers would deliver at least three million votes for Tinubu.
“We shall continue to work together to ensure that the president wins the election; that is our promise,” the governor said. He thanked Tinubu for advancing development in the Niger Delta, particularly through the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
During the visit, Tinubu inaugurated the Bonny-Bodo Road project and formally presented the APC governorship flag to the party’s candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda.
