President Bola Tinubu has sworn in eight newly appointed Federal Permanent Secretaries at the State House, Abuja. The swearing-in ceremony took place just before the commencement of the first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of the year.
The newly sworn-in permanent secretaries include Onwusoro Ihemelandu (Abia), Ndiomu Philip (Bayelsa), Anuma Nlia (Ebonyi), Ogbodo Nnam (Enugu), Usman Aminu (Kebbi), Oyekunle Nwakuso (Rivers), Nadungu Gagare (Kaduna), and Kalba Usman (Gombe).
In addition, President Tinubu administered the oath of office to 18 newly appointed Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). This follows the President’s August 2024 appointment of 21 commissioners, pending Senate confirmation.
The new RMAFC commissioners are Linda Oti (Abia), Akpan Effiong (Akwa Ibom), Enefe Ekene (Anambra), Prof. Steve Ugba (Benue), Chief Eyonsa (Cross River), Aruviere Egharhevwe (Delta), Nduka Awuregu (Ebonyi), Victor Eboigbe (Edo), Wumi Ogunlola (Ekiti), Ozo Obodougo (Enugu), and Kabir Mashi (Katsina). Others include Adamu Fanda (Kano), Dr. Kunle Wright (Lagos), Aliyu Abdulkadir (Nasarawa), Bako Shetima (Niger), Samuel Durojaye (Ogun), Nathaniel Adejutelegan (Ondo), Saad Ibrahim (Plateau), Modu-Aji Juluri (Yobe), Bello Garba (Zamfara), and Mohammed Usman (Gombe).
Additionally, Kayode Oladele was sworn in as a Commissioner for the Federal Character Commission, while Victoria Iyatan took the oath as a member of the National Population Commission.
During the FEC meeting, members observed a minute of silence in honor of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni, who passed away on January 23, 2025.
The meeting marked the Council’s return after a six-week recess, which was announced by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris. The recess lasted from December 18, 2024, to January 6, 2025.
