High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and donated 30 vehicles to aid grassroots mobilisation in Imo State.
The declaration came on Tuesday at the inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in the state. Tompolo was represented by Chief Kestin Pondi, managing director of Tantita Security Services Limited.
Pondi said the vehicles and other resources were provided to support Governor Hope Uzodimma and the movement’s campaign activities across Imo.
“Your Excellency, we have come with vehicles. We have come with resources. These vehicles you have seen, there are 30 of them. We brought them to Imo State to support you in your cause to re-elect President Bola Tinubu,” Pondi said, relaying Tompolo’s message.
Tompolo described Tinubu as a courageous leader who put Nigeria’s interests first by embarking on economic reforms from the start of his administration in May 2023.
“Our President, President Bola Tinubu, is a very courageous man. A man who puts Nigeria first. A man who loves Nigeria more than he loves himself. A man who loves Nigeria more than the office that he is vying for. When he came into office, he did not do the normal calculations that politicians usually do. He came in and said that he wants to reform Nigeria,” the message stated.
The movement, Tompolo said, would work with Uzodimma and other political leaders to take the campaign to households and communities. He added that the newly inaugurated chapter would remain available whenever required.
Governor Uzodimma welcomed the support and said his assessment of the president’s performance convinced him that Tinubu deserved another term to complete his programmes.
“We have assessed the achievements of President Bola Tinubu. And we have seen the good things he brought. We have also seen so many things he is also yet to do. And we decided to lead the crusade that will enable him to complete his good work,” Uzodimma said.
He described the door-to-door strategy as an important way to take the Renewed Hope Agenda directly to residents and called Tompolo a committed partner in the effort.
National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Asuku, urged Nigerians to remain patient with the administration. He argued that the economic difficulties linked to the reforms would give way to long-term benefits and that Tinubu had laid a foundation over the past three and a half years that deserved another four years to build on.
“The message we must tell today is simple and short. Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has sent us to make you understand that things might be rough, but Nigeria is on the right trajectory,” Asuku said. He added that reforms often come with temporary pain but are necessary for lasting prosperity, and called on voters to turn out on January 16, 2027.
Imo State APC Chairman Austine Onyedebelu highlighted the federal government’s removal of the petrol subsidy, foreign exchange reforms, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the increase in the national minimum wage to N70,000. He acknowledged that rising food prices, transport costs and other pressures remained concerns for many citizens, and stressed that the real test of policies was their impact on living conditions.
Onyedebelu also pointed to infrastructure projects under the Uzodimma administration and said the door-to-door campaign would allow party members to explain government programmes directly to residents rather than relying only on rallies.
