The Obi of Onitsha, Nnaemeka Achebe, has dismissed reports claiming he warned northern youths in response to the killing of 16 Hausa hunters in Edo State.
In a statement issued by his Chief of Staff, Osita Anionwu, Achebe clarified that he never made any statement regarding the tragic incident in Uromi, Edo State.
“The Palace of the Obi of Onitsha wishes to inform the general public that His Majesty, Nnaemeka Achebe (Agbogidi), has made no statement regarding the recent killing of northerners in Edo State,” the statement read.
It further condemned the false reports, describing them as part of a growing trend of attributing fake statements to the monarch in an attempt to create discord.
“The statement attributed to him is not only inaccurate but also inflammatory. We urge the public to disregard the fabricated statement and instead focus on promoting unity and understanding,” it added.
The Obi of Onitsha reaffirmed his commitment to peace and national unity, urging Nigerians to resist misinformation and work towards harmony among all ethnic groups.
