The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has published formal guidelines for the Candidates’ Debate and Manifesto Day set for Wednesday, 8th July, 2026, at the NBA National Headquarters in Abuja.
The event, commencing at 11:00 AM, will include manifesto presentations and structured debate for candidates vying for President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Third Vice President, and General Secretary.
Candidates for other positions — Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Assistant Publicity Secretary, and NBA Representatives to the General Council of the Bar will only take a formal bow in recognition.
The guidelines stress strict time management, professional decorum, and order. Candidates must be punctual, with no extensions granted. Virtual participants require prior approval and must identify themselves properly.
Prohibited actions include displaying campaign materials, interrupting speakers, making personal attacks, and unauthorised recording or live broadcasts.
The Presidential debate features opening statements, moderator questions, and wrap-up remarks in a fixed speaking order. The Moderator’s rulings are final, and violations may lead to sanctions.
