The Action People’s Party (APP) in Imo State has welcomed a Court of Appeal judgment that nullified a Federal High Court order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the party and four others.
In a statement signed by state Publicity Secretary Hon. Steve Nnadi, the party leadership under Chairman Hon. Ernest Njesi praised the appellate justices for their impartiality and commitment to justice. The court set aside the earlier ruling, declared it a nullity, and restored the legal status of the affected political parties.
APP described the decision as a victory for democracy, constitutional order, the rule of law and Nigeria’s multi-party system. It said the judgment reinforced judicial independence and public confidence in democratic institutions.
The party stressed that it remains fully recognised and prepared to take part in all electoral processes leading to the 2027 general elections. It called on members across Imo’s 27 local government areas to stay united, disciplined and focused on building a stronger platform.
APP urged intensified grassroots mobilisation, membership expansion, voter education and organisational strengthening. It also appealed to Imo residents to maintain support, assuring them of its commitment to purposeful leadership, accountability and people-centred policies aimed at sustainable development.
The party expressed confidence in its growing acceptance among voters and said it is determined to field credible candidates for elective offices in 2027.
