A Nigerian-born pharmacist from Imo State has been promoted to lieutenant colonel in the United States Army.
Ike Njiaju, a native of Isiekenesi in Ideato South Local Government Area, advanced from major to lieutenant colonel after more than a decade of service. A board-certified pediatric and infectious diseases pharmacist, he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences before joining the Army in 2013.
Since then, Njiaju has held progressive leadership and clinical roles. He has served as a platoon leader, medical company commander and pediatric clinical pharmacist at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He also completed the US Army Command and General Staff College.
Beyond his military career, Njiaju is married and the father of three children. His rise from a community in Imo State to a senior rank in the US Army has drawn attention in his home region as an example of professional advancement through education and service.
