The African Alliance Party has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to immediately comply with a court order requiring its registration, saying delays leave little time before the 2027 general election.
In a communiqué issued after its National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the party welcomed the Court of Appeal, Makurdi Division’s judgment of 11 June 2026 that directed INEC to register it. It also noted that the Supreme Court had struck out the commission’s application for a stay of execution, clearing the path for registration.
The NEC urged INEC to move quickly on the formal registration process, stressing that time is of the essence. The party said it remains ready to contest the 2027 elections and advised its members nationwide to stay calm and concentrate on the polls.
AAP also appealed to Nigerians to take active part in the electoral process, vote for candidates of their choice and ensure those votes are reflected in the final results, rather than depending solely on INEC’s Results Viewing Portal.
