The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery gang and recovered two vehicles believed to have been stolen during their criminal operations.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement released on Monday in Awka. According to Ikenga, the arrests were carried out by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, following actionable intelligence.
The suspects—identified as Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu, aged between 27 and 32—were apprehended on May 30 in Agukwu-Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state. Their arrest was based on information obtained from another robbery suspect already in custody.
Items recovered from the suspects include a white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC (registration number KWC 140), an ash-coloured Lexus RX 350 (registration number 669 CY), two luxury mobile phones, and a pump-action shotgun.
SP Ikenga added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large. He called on residents to support the police with credible information to help in the fight against crime.
“This operation underscores the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and the ongoing effort to rid the state of criminal elements,” Ikenga stated.
