Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the ruling party as lacking a proper political structure and operating as a “one-man show.”
Speaking on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, George addressed the potential rise of a third political force—such as the Social Democratic Party (SDP)—ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The APC has no structure. It’s just a one-man show,” he stated.
George emphasized the need for any credible political alternative to prioritize the welfare of the people over personal ambition.
“What should come first is the people—then our attitude in managing this country’s resources for their benefit. Individualism cannot solve our national issues. Personal ambition is a dangerous and foolish approach to governance,” he said.
He stressed that power should stem from the people and be exercised in their interest.
Turning to the internal crisis within the PDP, George acknowledged the challenges but expressed confidence that they would be addressed at the party’s upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
“This crisis began as a small sore and has grown into something like cancer, fueled by the inordinate ambition of individuals. It didn’t start today,” he said.
According to him, the PDP has mechanisms in place to resolve internal disputes. “Once we convene the NEC meeting, I believe we’ll tackle the issues head-on. Unfortunately, many have twisted the party’s constitution and laws to serve their personal interests.”
George said the meeting would allow for open and honest deliberation. “We’ll argue, discuss, and debate. But I believe we will find a resolution.”
He also warned that failure to resolve the ongoing disputes at the next NEC meeting could be detrimental to the party’s future. “We know those causing trouble, and if we don’t act now, it may signal the end for the PDP,” he added.
