Alhaji Bashir Aliyu Abara Gummi, the Head of the Zamfara State office of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has been abducted by bandits.
He was kidnapped while traveling to Abuja to represent the Zamfara State Government at a meeting. Sources confirmed that other members of his entourage managed to escape.
Reports indicate that his family initially raised N16 million as ransom, which the kidnappers accepted but later reneged on their promise to release him. They have now increased their demand to N44 million and 10 motorcycles.
A family source, speaking to DAILY POST, urged the Zamfara State Government to intervene urgently, as the kidnappers had set a deadline of Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Efforts to reach state authorities for a response were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
