Demola Olarenwaju, Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has slammed President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Benue State, describing it as a “show of shame.”
President Tinubu visited the state following a deadly attack in the Yelewata area, where suspected herders reportedly killed over 200 people. The visit has drawn criticism from various quarters, with many accusing the president of turning a moment of grief into political optics.
Reacting on X (formerly Twitter), Olarenwaju wrote:
“The show of shame in Benue yesterday is something the APC will quickly want us to forget, but we must not. That moment represents several depths of shame from the APC.”
He called on skit-makers, comedians, writers, and public commentators to keep highlighting the incident and hold the ruling party accountable.
Earlier, former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, also criticized Tinubu’s approach, accusing him of prioritizing image-making over genuine empathy for the victims and their families.
