Cardi B emerged as the biggest nominee for the 2026 BET Awards 2026 with six nominations, while Nigerian stars Wizkid, Asake, Tems and Burna Boy secured spots in major categories ahead of the ceremony in Los Angeles.
The nominations, announced on Tuesday, set the stage for the awards show scheduled for June 28 at the Peacock Theater, with comedian and internet personality Druski confirmed as host.
Cardi B’s six nominations include Album of the Year for Am I the Drama?, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, Viewers’ Choice Award, Video Director of the Year and the newly introduced Fashion Vanguard Award.
Tems earned three nominations, receiving recognition in Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her Award for “First,” and the Viewers’ Choice category for “Raindance” alongside Dave.
Wizkid and Asake picked up a joint nomination in the Best Group category, while Burna Boy earned a Best Collaboration nod for “WGFT” with Gunna.
The nominations for Cardi B were largely fueled by her second studio album Am I the Drama?, as well as tracks including “Outside” and “Errtime Remix” featuring Jeezy and Latto.
Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist followed closely with five nominations each, while Doechii, Doja Cat and Teyana Taylor also secured multiple nominations.
This year’s edition will debut two new categories — the Fashion Vanguard Award and the Pulse Award — aimed at celebrating influence in fashion, digital culture and online media.
Actors of Nigerian heritage also made the nominees list, with Ayo Edebiri and Cynthia Erivo nominated for Best Actress, while Damson Idris received a nomination for Best Actor.
