At least 47 people were killed on Sunday night following a deadly attack on Zike and Kimakpa communities in the Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The assault occurred just over a week after a similar incident in Bokkos Local Government Area, which left 52 dead and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.
Confirming the latest attack, the National Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, Danjuma Dickson Auta, said the violence erupted around 8:00 p.m., resulting in the deaths of 47 residents and leaving several others critically injured.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Government has voiced grave concern over the alleged occupation of communities by armed groups, warning that such developments continue to escalate insecurity and tension across the state.
