Pascal Gabriel Dozie, founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank Plc, has passed away at the age of 85.
According to Business Day, Dozie died in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025—just one day shy of his 86th birthday—after battling an age-related illness.
Dozie was a pioneering figure in Nigeria’s banking sector, best known for establishing Diamond Bank, which was once regarded as one of the country’s most innovative financial institutions before its merger with Access Bank. He served as chairman of the bank until handing over the reins to his son, Uzoma Dozie.
He is survived by his wife, Chinyere Dozie, five children, and other relatives.
