Suspected herdsmen launched a deadly night raid on Tse Yange, a Tiv-majority community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on Sunday night.
The attackers, reportedly riding on motorbikes, stormed the agrarian village, killing the community’s traditional ruler and abducting several residents.
Local sources said the assault, which continued into the early hours of Monday, left many injured and forced numerous residents to flee their homes.
While the full extent of the casualties is yet to be confirmed, several houses were said to have been deserted in the wake of the attack. The exact number of abducted and injured persons remains unclear at the time of this report.
