In a highly anticipated celebrity boxing match that lived up to its name, popular social media comedian Carter Efe defeated street hip-hop singer Habeeb Badmus, better known as Portable, by unanimous decision at the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event held early Saturday morning at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
All three judges scored the three-round bout 30-27 in favour of Efe, who used his significant height and reach advantage to dominate with sharp uppercuts and body shots. Efe celebrated the win by dubbing himself “Carter Mayweather,” drawing cheers from the lively crowd.
However, the defeated Portable was far from gracious in defeat. He immediately demanded streaming revenue from the organisers, claiming he was owed approximately N200 million.
“I want my stream money… Just give me my money before I cause trouble,” Portable said. He also accused the judges of robbing him, alleging that Efe illegally used his long arms and height advantage to “strangle” him, while claiming his own punches were not properly counted.
Despite the controversial loss, Portable found joy elsewhere as his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, gave birth to their baby boy, named Jamal Iremide, on the same night.
“My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt, but not my child,” he stated.
On the financial side, Lagos businessman Emeka ‘E-Money’ Okonkwo honoured his pre-fight pledge by awarding the new champion, Carter Efe, N50 million immediately after the victory.
