A pro-Tinubu youth organisation’s Ekiti State chapter has listed two men accused by activist Omoyele Sowore of taking part in the October 30 attack on him and his team in leadership roles, according to an executive list released by the group.
The document, signed by the movement’s Director of Media and Communications, Alofe Ayodele Moses, and dated July 4, 2026, names Ijarotimi Ayodeji Akintade as Chief Security Officer and Adenijo Olusola as State Treasurer. Sowore has publicly identified Akintade as one of those involved in the assault at Tawakalitu Restaurant in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti. He has also named Adenijo Olusola, popularly known as “Solar,” as a leading participant in the violence that left members of his team injured and resulted in the theft of phones and other belongings.
The appointments form part of a restructuring of the City Boy Movement’s Ekiti leadership, approved by State Director Kasali Oluwafemi. The group said the changes were based on competence, loyalty, dedication and capacity to deliver, and were intended to strengthen grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The City Boy Movement, founded in 2022 as a youth support group for Tinubu, is closely associated with the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, who serves as its patron. President Tinubu has previously praised the organisation for its structured approach and defence of his administration’s policies.
Kasali Oluwafemi, the state director who approved the appointments, has himself drawn scrutiny. Sowore previously accused him of threatening to assault his wife after she criticised Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji during a marathon event last year. Sowore has also alleged that Kasali made threats ahead of the October 30 attack and celebrated afterwards.
The revelations come as Sowore continues to criticise the Ekiti State Police Command’s handling of the investigation. Police announced the arrest of 11 people in connection with the violence. Sowore has questioned why individuals he named as principal participants have not been publicly accounted for and has accused officers of mishandling CCTV equipment removed from the restaurant, claiming recordings were wiped. He has called for an independent investigation and the forensic examination of all available evidence.
Adenijo “Solar” has a prior record of arrests in Ekiti. In September 2014 he was among seven men arrested and prosecuted over the murder of Chief Omolafe Aderiye, then chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state and a loyalist of former Governor Ayodele Fayose. The defendants spent more than three years in custody before the Ekiti State High Court discharged and acquitted them in January 2018, ruling that the prosecution had failed to provide sufficient evidence.
Solar was later arrested and remanded over deadly violence during the March 2021 Ekiti East Constituency 1 House of Assembly by-election in Omuo-Ekiti. Several people were shot, including Woman Sergeant Olawoye Bukola, who died from her injuries. He was arraigned with two others on charges including conspiracy, murder and attempted murder. No final High Court judgment or conviction in that case has been established from available records.
Sowore has maintained that the October 30 attack was politically motivated and intended to intimidate him. He has demanded that the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services explain the steps taken to investigate those he identified and determine whether any political organisation or public official played a role.
