A Bayelsa State High Court in Yenagoa has issued an order stopping a planned mega rally in support of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The rally, organized by the NEW Associates, was scheduled to take place on April 12, 2025, in Yenagoa, the state capital. However, on Thursday, Justice I.A. Uzakah granted a Motion Ex-Parte in Suit No. BYHC/YHC/CV/133/2025, filed by the Bayelsa State Attorney General, Biriyai Dambo, SAN.
The suit lists George Turnah, the lead convener of NEW Associates, as the first defendant, with Wike named as the second defendant. Other respondents include the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police.
The case has been adjourned to April 11, 2025, for hearing.
