Veteran journalist and politician, Dele Momodu, has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is the only Nigerian politician capable of taking on President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Momodu claimed that other politicians, including Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, lack the courage to challenge Tinubu.
“Atiku is the only one today who is not afraid of Tinubu. Every other person cannot face him, including Mr. Peter Obi, who was used by Atiku in 2019,” he said.
Momodu also predicted that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, would eventually be sidelined by President Tinubu once he had served his purpose.
“I have no doubts, they [the presidency] will use him and dump him,” he added.
Addressing his stance on Tinubu, despite their past relationship, Momodu explained that while Tinubu had helped him in the past, he could not support his leadership style.
“Yes, he helped me in the past, but I have also done a lot for him before. He is a very kindhearted and generous person, but when it comes to politics, I cannot support a system where one person’s word is final and no one dares challenge it. Even Baba Awolowo had people who argued with him,” he said.
