The Enugu State Police Command has arrested seven male suspects for alleged conspiracy and armed robbery in the Ibagwa-Nike area of Enugu.
Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday. He stated that the suspects, aged between 20 and 32, were apprehended following reports of armed robberies on February 3 and 6, 2025.
According to Ndukwe, the arrests were carried out by the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) after credible intelligence was gathered. He disclosed that officers recovered a pump-action gun, two locally made pistols, two live cartridges, two machetes, and various stolen items, including SIM cards, identity cards, clothing, and supplement drugs.
The suspects, who were taken into custody by the Anti-Robbery (D9) Section, have reportedly confessed to the crime. They will be arraigned in court upon the completion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has urged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with law enforcement agencies to curb crime in the state.
