The Federal Government has directed all tertiary institutions across the country to publicly advertise job vacancies as part of efforts to promote transparency, equity, and open competition in the recruitment process.
The directive was issued by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, in a statement released on Thursday by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade.
According to the statement, federal tertiary institutions that have received recruitment waivers must publish available positions in at least one national daily newspaper, on their official websites, and in relevant academic and professional journals to ensure all qualified Nigerians have equal access.
“This follows the waivers granted to federal tertiary institutions based on their submitted manpower needs, in line with the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of higher education institutions,” the statement noted.
Institutions were also reminded to submit their recruitment plans to the Committee on Waiver and Recruitment for prior review. The Ministry warned that non-compliance with the directive would attract disciplinary measures.
“The Ministry has established adequate mechanisms to monitor compliance and will not hesitate to sanction any institution that fails to adhere to this policy,” the statement added.
