The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has announced a ban on all unauthorised visits to the state, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor emphasized that he is not expecting any high-profile visitors or delegations at this time, as he is currently engaged in crucial meetings with key stakeholders to address pressing issues affecting the state.
The statement specifically warned individuals and groups against planning visits that could trigger political gatherings without securing prior approval.
“For anyone considering a visit to Benue State without the Governor’s knowledge, it is imperative to reconsider such plans, as the safety and security of such visits cannot be guaranteed,” the statement read.
It further stated that all individuals or organizations intending to visit IDP camps in the state must first obtain written permission from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).
Governor Alia urged security agencies and members of the public to take note of the directive and work together to maintain peace and order across the state.
