Gunmen have killed Muhammad Adamu, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred on Wednesday evening at Adamu’s residence shortly after he broke his fast. Sources told DAILY POST that the assailants, who are yet to be identified, shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Chairman of MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, condemned the killing and urged security agencies to swiftly investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“This is an unfortunate situation. We call on security agencies to investigate and fish out those behind this heinous act so that they will face the full wrath of the law,” Babayo said.
A youth leader in the community, Alhaji Danjuma Ibrahim, also confirmed the attack, noting that this was the third attempt on Adamu’s life. He described the killing as a tragic loss, emphasizing Adamu’s efforts in maintaining peace within Barkin Ladi.
“The gunmen shot him multiple times, leaving bullet wounds on his body. Security personnel, including police and soldiers, responded, and we were with them at the hospital when he was rushed there,” Danjuma said.
He added that Adamu’s body had been deposited at the Barkin Ladi General Hospital and was set to be buried on Thursday.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, said he was not yet aware of the incident.
