The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has summoned Adebayo Adeleke, a former Osun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, for questioning over alleged financial misconduct.
Adeleke’s media aide, Kazeem Mohammed, confirmed on Monday that his principal received the invitation and would comply. He clarified that Adeleke was not arrested, dismissing social media speculations.
According to Mohammed, ICPC officials handed the letter to Adeleke as he exited a radio station in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. “The officials were professional. Prince Adeleke received the letter and assured them he would honour the invitation,” he stated.
The probe follows a petition from the Osun State Government to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging mismanagement of funds allocated for Primary Healthcare Centre renovations. The petition names several All Progressives Congress (APC) members, including Adeleke, whose companies allegedly secured renovation contracts.
In response, Adeleke denied any wrongdoing, asserting that he had resigned from the implicated company before the contracts were awarded. He accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of targeting him for exposing alleged irregularities in government operations.
During a Monday radio interview, Adeleke confirmed receiving the ICPC invitation and expressed his willingness to cooperate fully. Mohammed assured the public that there was no cause for concern, emphasizing that the ex-commissioner was committed to clearing his name.
