Father of former Big Brother Naija All Stars winner Ilebaye Odiniya, Emmanuel Odiniya, has addressed the viral family altercation involving his daughter, claiming he was provoked before the incident escalated.
In a voice recording shared on Facebook by Kogi-based journalist Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme, Emmanuel stated that his actions were not motivated by hatred, stressing that Ilebaye remains one of his most cherished children.
According to him, he played a significant role in supporting her journey to victory during the reality show, using his influence and connections to mobilise votes for her emergence as winner.
He, however, alleged that their relationship changed after her success, claiming she became distant, ignored appointments he arranged for her, and no longer respected him as her father.
Emmanuel also expressed concerns about her lifestyle choices, including alleged cosmetic procedures, which he said he had advised her against because of her age.
The father further alleged that there had been previous physical confrontations between them, claiming that on one occasion she struck him with an AC hanger, causing injuries.
Speaking on the latest incident, he alleged that the confrontation began after an argument during which she insulted and attacked him before the situation worsened.
He also accused his daughter of neglecting him financially despite his health challenges, alleging that she declined to assist him with funds for medical treatment abroad.
Additionally, Emmanuel claimed that Ilebaye negatively influenced her younger brother and interfered in family matters, including his marriage.
Despite the accusations, he maintained that he still loves his daughter and hopes for reconciliation, adding that the police had intervened and helped settle the matter.
The incident gained public attention after Ilebaye shared an emotional livestream seeking help, prompting concern from fans online.
Confirming the development, spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said all parties involved sustained injuries and were receiving treatment, while the siblings remained under police protective custody as investigations continue.
