Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has declared that the state is now effectively a one-party state, claiming that opposition parties no longer have a visible presence.
Uzodinma made this assertion on Friday while receiving the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and other party leaders who visited the state for the commissioning of newly completed roads.
“The opposition is nowhere to be found. Imo is now a one-party state”, the governor stated, expressing confidence in the dominance of the APC in the region.
The governor’s remarks come amid continued political realignments in the state, with many opposition figures reportedly defecting to the ruling party.
