Another lawyer, C.I. Amadi, has today Tuesday the 17th day of December 2024, lost his car in the Magistrate Court Premises (Old High Court Complex) Owerri, bibncollar.com can confirm.
The counsel, who went to the Magistrate Court Premises, parked his 1999 Model Camry, and walked into Court 18 to obtain a Judgment Order in his determined suit. He had walked back to pick up another item, only to realise that his grey-coloured car with Registration number as RLU 931 AA, was no longer at the same spot he had parked it few minutes before.
When bibncollar.com spoke with the counsel this evening, he expressed grief at this incident, noting that his laptop, where all his works have been saved, was also in the car.
This ugly incident comes hot on the heels of a similar incident which took place on the 27th day of November 2024, where another Lawyer’s Camry Car was stolen inside the High Court Premises, Owerri.
These twin incidents raise very grave concerns about the security of all the court premises in Imo State.
Lawyers who have reacted since this incident blamed it on the porosity of all the court premises in the entire State, expressing serious worry that such incident may continue unchecked in the light of the judicial orphancy in the State.
The ongoing insecurity issues in the court premises of the State therefore highlight the need for the Government of Imo State to find urgent solution to the undesirable judicial sede vacante, which Imo Judiciary has been plunged into since the NJC-induced retirement of the immediate past Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Theresa Chukwuemeka-Chikeka, last month.
